WSJ: Single Women Over 55 Home Buying Trend

Today's Journal published: A New Life, A New House. Whether divorced or never married, single women over 55 are among the fastest-growing demographic of home buyers.
Last year, single older women made up 8.2% of all home buyers, roughly double the number 20 years ago. These women buy homes at nearly twice the rate of their male counterparts.
There are more single women than men, reflecting the fact that men are more likely to quickly remarry and don't live as long.
This trend also recognizes the growing financial independence of single women, a willingness to strike out on their own and begin a new chapter later in life:
