Marking the 10th Anniversary of the Financial CrisisSubmitted by LWM | Linden Wealth Management LLC on August 11th, 2017
A lot has been written marking the 10th anniversary of the financial crisis. It was a scary time. Markets and economies were sinking. There wasn't a person unaffected one way or another. If you recall there was legitimate concern we could be heading into the next great depression.
Fortunately, that didn't happen. Thanks to unprecedented central bank stimulus and the restorative nature of our economy, markets not only recovered but doubled in value.
It shows that the market can sustain a "once in a lifetime event" and still prevail. That is the real lesson. As painful as it can seem at times, investors must keep their eyes focused on the future. Storms will come and go but it's more than coincidence that the market continually prevails. Staying the course is better than jumping overboard and trying to swim to shore.
